Faculty Spotlight: Dr. Michael Reardon at CVIS 2024​

The CardioVascular Interventions Summit 2024 is proud to announce Dr. Michael Reardon, MD, as a faculty member for this year’s event. 

Dr. Reardon attended Baylor College of Medicine, where he graduated with honors. He underwent his 5-year general surgery residency under Dr. Michael DeBakey and a 2-year cardiothoracic residency under Dr. Denton Cooley at the Texas Heart Institute.

Dr. Reardon’s career is marked by numerous achievements and leadership roles. At Baylor College of Medicine, he served as Professor of Surgery, Chief of the Division of Cardiothoracic Surgery, Program Director of the Cardiothoracic Residency, and Vice Chair of Academic Affairs in the Department of Surgery. His long-standing association with Houston Methodist Hospital has seen him in various administrative capacities, including President of the Medical Staff.

A Leader in Research and Clinical Practice

Dr. Reardon stands at the forefront of cardiothoracic surgery, particularly in areas of cardiac valvular disease, thoracic aortic disease, and cardiac tumors. He has been pivotal in numerous TAVR trials and has contributed significantly to the field with over 800 medical and scientific papers, book chapters, and abstracts.

Personal Life and Passions

Beyond his professional accolades, Dr. Reardon is a family man, having been married for 48 years to Robin, with whom he shares two daughters and four grandchildren. His personal interests align seamlessly with his professional pursuits, underscoring his passion for advancing the field of cardiothoracic surgery.

Looking Ahead to CVIS 2024

At CVIS 2024, Dr. Reardon will share his extensive knowledge and experience as a panel member of the Mitral Valve Replacement/Repair and Lifetime Management of Aortic Valve Disease presentations, a moderator for the Two Decades of TAVR Science talk, and will share two presentations – Surgery vs. TEER vs TMVR Trial in 2023 and Lifetime Aortic Valve Management Choices: A Surgeon’s Perspective.

Fleming is a licensed insurance agent with over 36 years of experience in Life, Health, Estate Preservation and Retirement Insurance. For much of his career, he has been offering insurance in Valdosta, GA. He is a lifetime member of the Million Dollar Round Table and Court of the Table and has served on several insurance boards. In September of 2018, Fleming acquired the ownership of the Remerton Agency DBA Star Insurance.

Fleming graduated from Brunswick High School, Brunswick, GA. and attended Brunswick College. He is recognized as a Life Underwriter Training Council Fellow (LUTCF®) and is a member of the National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors (NAIFA). Fleming has also been a past President of Life Underwriters of Valdosta and served on other chairs for the association.

Fleming has served as President of the Valdosta Bulldog Club and also on the board of several non-profit organizations in the Valdosta area. He is married to the former Kaye Chastain of Moultrie, GA and they have four sons; John Fleming, William, Wesley and Wilson and two grandchildren. They are members of the Park Avenue United Methodist Church
